Team USA Update
As many of you know, Team USA will not be officially sending a squad to the Pan American Cup race in Ecuador this year. Under USATF’s new High-Performance Plan, funding has been cut for several non-major teams, including the Pan Am Cup. The Race Walk Committee was informed of this decision after the 35K trials but before the 20K and U20 10K trials.
Thanks to the dedication of many individuals—and a generous private donation—we were able to pivot and create an alternative competitive opportunity for our top athletes.
- 35K athletes have been awarded a $2,000 stipend to compete in a World Athletics-sanctioned race of their choice.
- 20K and U20 athletes will travel to Warsaw, Poland on May 4th to compete in the 4th annual Korzeniowski Warsaw Racewalking Cup, a Gold Level event featuring many of the world’s best walkers. This prestigious race offers a valuable experience in top-tier competition, all while enjoying the mild Warsaw spring weather.
We recognize that this shift isn’t ideal, but given the tight timeline between USATF’s decision and the trials, this was the best available option to ensure our athletes could still compete internationally.
Team USA Spring 2025
Congratulations to the follow athletes for qualifying top 4 and hitting the standards (20k/10k) required to receive the above funding this spring
- 35K

- Nick Christie, Jordan Crawford, Michael Mannozzi, Matthew Martinez
- 20K

International Opportunity for All
One exciting aspect of this adjustment is that the race is open to all athletes! We welcome anyone interested in self-funding their trip to join the team and compete in Warsaw on May 4, 2025. Attached is detailed information for those who would like to take advantage of this opportunity.
